Prior to establishing TireSafe here in Miami, I was co-founder and president of Kirk’s Automotive in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where I sponsored the creation of Kirk’s Kids Pediatric Center at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. This not-for-profit, community-owned hospital has always done an excellent job in caring for the little patients of Baton Rouge and I have always been proud to be associated with such a fine organization.
Following Hurricane Katrina, the General really stepped up to the plate and opened its doors to the children being evacuated from the New Orleans area, while at the same time, continuing to care for its Baton Rouge patients. Like so many other Louisiana organizations, the General was challenged like never before. But they rose to the occasion, leading the medical response effort during the aftermath of Katrina and surpassing my every expectation. Their marketing tagline is “A Community of Caring” and they have always lived up to this without fail – even through our country’s worst natural disaster.
The General’s dedication to the children, the community, and to South Louisiana is unparalleled. As a native of Baton Rouge and a believer in the people of Louisiana, this sponsorship still holds a special place in my heart. That’s exactly why – through TireSafe – I am continuing my commitment to Kirk’s Kids Pediatric Center at Baton Rouge General Medical Center.
So many of you ask me what you can do to help the people of South Louisiana. And my response to you is to support the hospital that is leading change in Louisiana and directly affecting the lives of its southern residents.
